I got the banana split, and chose my own flavors. I got butter chip (so good!!!!!!!!), lemon curd (refreshing) and I forgot the other one. I got the the traditional sauces pineapple, and strawberry but substituted the chocolate for marshmallow and it hit the spot!!!! Gunther's can do no wrong!!! Everything is good!!!!!! If you're looking for something super refreshing you have to get there freezes!!!!! The service is always great, and you can sample any of there flavors. I also love that they are still in the original building and they still have that old school ice scream parlor feeling!!!!

Almost forgot to take a picture of my cone because I was so ready to devour it!! Gunther's is probably one of my favorite ice cream parlors I have visited so far. They have a wide selection of flavors and the line is out the door for a reason! They also have plenty of outdoor seating with umbrella shades for the hotter months. My favorite flavor to get is their Mocha Almond Fudge. I usually get this flavor from Baskin Robbins but always find that there are never enough almonds for my liking. This flavor at Gunther's has PLENTY of almond pieces throughout, down to the last bite! I can't wait to visit again soon to try out more of the menu!

The price is so cheap than those LA's ice cream shops. The line is always long and unfortunately you can't really get samples. My favorite is the banana road flavor. It has marshmallows too.

Classic Sacramento go to spot for ice cream and fruit freezes. The line moves quickly and there's seating out front and around back of the building. They have two lines for order in store and pick up orders. Street parking only. Love Gunther's for the fruit freezes which are large and worth the value. You can also order individual scoops and they have seasonal flavors. The folks working here are quick and efficient.

50 - 50: Ice cream and fruit freeze. While the ice cream was good, the freeze was a bit disappointing. The ice cream (thai tea) was flavorful and thick. The freeze lacked fruit taste and was very watery and icy. There was also a noticeable hair embedded into one of our scoops of ice cream, but the team quickly replaced it with a bigger scoop.

The best ice cream in Sacramento! Nothing is more quintessentially Sacramentan than a trip to Gunther's for a 50-50 fruit freeze. You also can't miss with their delicious hand-made ice cream flavors. My personal favorite is the lemon custard. It's the perfect blend of cream and citrus. I'm always torn between the fruit freeze and the lemon custard - so torn sometimes I just have to get both! The line here tend to get long, especially in the Summer, but they move fairly quickly. The staff is very polite and efficient, too. Another thing to note - there aren't many places to sit and eat your ice cream, so if you see an open table you better grab it quickly! It's probably best to take it to go, if you can.

If you're looking for ice cream, you've come to the right place! Gunther's, a community favorite, has been in operation for decades (since the 1940s) serving all sorts of ice cream and desserts to fulfill that craving! Their signature, of course, is their ice cream by the scoop but they have since expanded their menu to include milkshakes, fruit freezes, ice cream sandwiches, and other icy novelty sweets. During the holidays, you'll find seasonal desserts to bring the winter joy home. A classic is their bonbons which come in vanilla or mint chocolate flavored, both dipped in a thin layer of chocolate for that crispy crunchy shell. For ice cream, they have a vast lot of flavors and each one can be made into a milkshake to your liking. They encourage you to try flavors and the long lines you frequently see here are full of excited patrons ready to try a new flavor to indulge in their next cone or shake. When you reach the register, one of the many staff members will assist you with finding a flavor for you and taking your order. They're quite generous with their samples! There are a lot of sizes for you to choose from for their cones and each one has plenty of ice cream to consume. So be prepared to have the space for dessert in your stomach or be ready to share because they're big and filling! They have kid sizes for those with little ones or little stomaches and triple scoops and sundaes for those looking for a bit extra. The ice cream is creamy and delicious. The multitude of flavors is definitely a point of interest and the high frequency of customers means the product stays rather fresh. Gunther's is the epitome of classic ice cream parlors and continues to play to its strengths. You're not going to see too many experimental or out of the box flavors here but you're sure to get quality, traditional tastes. The prices are reasonable given the amount you get. The nostalgia of their novelty desserts is also worth the premium and very few vendors sell them. Parking is pretty easy as it's street parking (plenty around the corner) and there's pretty high churn in this area. Due to not having much room for dine in, most folks take it to go or dine outdoors in the back patio area (they have picnic tables). Overall, Gunther's is the definition of what you see is what you get - traditional ice cream and cold desserts. The joy and cheer from the staff will have you celebrating holidays and celebrations throughout the year. If ice cream is your type of meal and dessert of choice, Gunther's is the place to go in the Sacramento area!

Gunther's ice cream!! Located in Tahoe park!! A sac staple even though I'm not sure why because I have no clue about the history! This place is so nice and the menu is actually huge it's overwhelming! They have outdoor seating only! I got a one scoop sundae with peanut butter ice cream and hot fudge! It was really good and the perfect amount of dessert! They also have a case in the front for grab and go treats and a water station in the front of the shop! The girl working was really nice and very helpful! They will let you sample the flavors but you have to ask!

It's Gunther's, I've had the ice cream here many times and it never disappoints. They are super fast given the foot traffic they accommodate here but they are damn good at it. It's a small location inside but there is ample seating outside and it's just such a Sacramento vibe to get some yummy ice cream at Gunther's
